R.Paul Bateson, originally from England. Born 5/1/51 in Lancashire but moved to Yorkshire Dales in 1972. Now a resident of Spain since 2001 and living in Alhama de Granada in the area known as the Comarca de Alhama which is south west of Granada, Andalucia.
With a background in printing, marketing and promotion, publishing, cycle racing, running and outdoor pursuits he brings a rare blend of talents to TrailRunSpain which was originally part of Team Axarsport the organization he formed 10 years ago.
He comes with a background of 13 years of cycle racing, road, track and cyclo-cross experience plus fell and adventure racing in the UK. His cycling career in England was ended by a hit and run accident. As a result of this accident, he has gradually lost his hearing over the past 20 years and is now registered as disabled but this in no way has kept him from achieving great success.
